Equine herpes virus type 1 (EHV-1) and 4 (EHV-4) infections in horses and donkeys in northeastern Turkey
The herpesviruses infections in equides are caused by five different serotypes of viruses, belonging to family Herpesviridae. The goal of this study was to conduct a seroepidemiological investigation of equine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1) and type 4 (EHV-4) in horses and donkeys raised in two provinces and their villages in northeastern Turkey. A total of 666 samples from 423 horses and 243 donke...
متن کاملEquine herpesvirus 1 utilizes a novel herpesvirus entry receptor.
The well-described herpesvirus entry receptors HveA (TNFRSF14), HveB (nectin 2), and HveC (nectin 1) have been shown to mediate the entry of alphaherpesviruses. Our findings showed that the alphaherpesvirus equine herpesvirus 1 (EHV-1) efficiently entered and replicated in CHO-K1 cells that lack the entry receptors HveA, HveB, and HveC, demonstrating that EHV-1 utilizes a unique entry receptor....
متن کاملEquine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1) replication in primary murine neurons culture.
Equine herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1) infections cause significant economic losses for equine industries worldwide as a result of abortion, respiratory illness, and neurologic disease in all breeds of horses. The occurrence of abortions caused by EHV-1 has repeatedly been confirmed in Poland, but neurological manifestations of the infection have not been described yet. Also it is unknown how the infecti...
متن کاملExperimental infection with equine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1) induces chorioretinal lesions
Equine herpesvirus myeloencephalitis (EHM) remains one of the most devastating manifestations of equine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1) infection but our understanding of its pathogenesis remains rudimentary, partly because of a lack of adequate experimental models. EHV-1 infection of the ocular vasculature may offer an alternative model as EHV-1-induced chorioretinopathy appears to occur in a signi...
متن کاملEquine herpesvirus 1 (EHV-1): characterisation of a viral strain isolated from equine plasma in Argentina
Strain "LP-3" of equine herpesvirus 1 (EHV-1), isolated from plasma of horses with clinical signs of rhinopneumonitis, was characterised by cultural, physicochemical, electron microscopic, serological and immunohistochemical studies. This was the first isolation from Argentine horses with respiratory disease. Another strain, SP-1, was isolated in the same laboratory from an aborted fetus in 1980.
